Group Counseling For Married and Committed Couples

Are you seeking group couples therapy or therapy for married couples in Springfield, MO, and Green CountyArea?

We designed our couples Groups for those couples that enjoy having a community. Doing Prepare/Enrich in groups with me will give you a chance to meet other couples at a similar stage in life as yourselves.

How Do Couples Groups Work?

You will be with other couples who can relate to you and understand what you are going through. Finding and making friends with other couples will be an excellent experience if you struggle as a couple. In this program, you will get everything you would receive in the first session with FEP. The group sessions will have a minimum of three couples.

Once I receive the results from the assessment, I will match up couples with other couples with similar needs and goals. In a group setting, you'll enjoy plenty of fun activities! We can play games and enjoy ourselves while digging deeper into your needs.

Having community will also mean accountability and new friendships. A significant benefit of this program is a discounted rate for those who complete the 12 weeks; you will also be eligible for individual relationship consultations at a reduced rate.

Strategies We Will Use

  • We will make a life plan and develop goals for you to achieve.

  • We will take advantage of the community you’ll have in the group to help build up your relationship.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: The therapist will work with the couple/clients to examine and challenge poor thought patterns and unhealthy behaviors. Then, the therapist and clients will seek to supplant those thoughts and behaviors with healthier ones.

Structural Family Therapy: The therapist will examine the structure of relationships and identify how they function. The couple/client and therapist will analyze partner roles, power dynamics, proper boundaries, and more to re-orient relationships to a healthier state.

Contextual Therapy: As the name suggests, this type of therapy looks at how people grew up in the context of their families, and it seeks to find trauma expressing itself in current relationships.

Eric will use these techniques in sequence as clients' needs call for them. If necessary, we will begin at the surface level with cognitive behavioral and move deeper to trauma with contextual therapy. Again, all is dependent on the couple's/ client's needs.
